Loving As Christ Loved The Church

Husbands are commanded to love wives as Christ loves the church.  Many wives use this as an excuse not to submit to their husbands...they aren't being loved the right way.

How does Christ love the church?  He died for the church.  Most husbands would be willing to die for their wives and children.  Christ also rebukes and disciplines the church.  Do you willingly accept rebuke from your husband?  Is he allowed to tell you that you are being unsubmissive to him without getting angry with him?  I am sure most of you tell your husbands what you don't like them doing.  Do you allow them to tell you what they feel you are doing wrong?

If you roll your eyes at him, refuse to listen to him, or show disrespect to him, do you let him correct you?  So many men are afraid of their wives.  The wives have used manipulation and control to wear the pants in the home.  They have set the tone in the home and it is not a good one.

Men are called to be the head of the home.  Are you allowing them to be head and even encouraging it? I have read so many times that men can't tell their wives to be submissive. Why not?  Christ tells the church to be submissive to Him, therefore, husbands can tell their wives to be submissive to them.

We only like to read the part about husbands nourishing, cherishing and loving their wives as Christ does with the church.  We don't like to read the part about Christ washing and sanctifying the church.  This is all part of being the leader of the home also.

So learn to take your husband's rebuke.  Allow him to be the head and leader in every way.  This will make it much easier for him to be the leader.

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church
and gave Himself up for her,
so that He might sanctify her,
having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word.
Ephesians 5:25,26
