The Headmaster's Award

We celebrated my birthday yesterday two months late.  We always do because my mom is in Wisconsin until October.  Then she takes my sisters, Carol Hopson {our adopted sister :)}, and me out to a nice lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean with Santa Ana breezes blowing....Ahhhh, what a life!

Carol Hopson's husband, Jim, was the Headmaster {Principal} of the Christian School my children attended for high school.  He was a godly man who walked with Jesus.  He loved his wife and loved the students.

He had devotions with his staff consistently and everyone knew Jesus came first in his life.  When the students graduated, his hope for them was that they had deep roots in Jesus.  Whenever he saw one of my children, he would pat them on the head or back and tell them what a good job they were doing and call them by name.

Many people think those were the best years at SFC.   It had a small town country feel.  Everyone was warm and friendly.  The students could be involved in sports, choir, the school play, and still get good grades because academics weren't everything.  Having a well-rounded education with Christ in the middle was the focus.

On graduation day, Jim Hopson gave out the Headmaster's award to the senior who modeled a life of integrity on and off the basketball court, baseball field, etc.  He gave it to Steven the year he graduated.

Steven has won a lot of awards, trophies, and accolades in his life.  God blessed him with good looks, athletic ability, and a strong mind.  But when all is said and done, the only thing that matters is that he walked with Jesus.

Steven has decided to do that from a very young age.  He makes wise choices.  He stands up for what is right even if it means he will be ridiculed and not asked to parties.

On the great judgment day, to have God, our great Judge look at you and say ~

Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
Matthew 25:23...That is all that matters.

All the trophies, awards, and accolades that this life has to offer, is nothing compared to being loved and accepted by our Savior.  So after thinking about it, this award given to Steven is the most meaningful to me.  Jim Hopson was a godly leader and example and Steven is walking in his footsteps. Praise Him from whom all blessings flow!
